Pamela's Pearls & Estate Jewelry

Specializing in Pearl Jewelry & Pearl Stringing

I personally feel that the repair of Antique & Estate Jewelry, requires a different type of jeweler than modern pieces do.  Many modern jewelers would rather just pull out all the stones and make something new.  Yes, it takes time to "save" these wonderful old pieces of your personal history, but it is well worth the effort.  With my years of experience work with Antique & Estate jewelry, I feel I have the sensibility and touch to work with these very special pieces.

I Love a challenge!

This ring came to us totally smashed and twisted with the center stone out of the mount.  (Click on above photos to enlarge and see details)
The customer was told by another jeweler that it could not be repaired.

So of course, I was up for the challenge.

I noticed that the under carriage or gallery of the ring has construlled with wirework and it seemed to me the wires where way too thin to support the large stone.  Also the customer complained that the culet or tip of the stone sometimes scrached her finger when she wore the ring.
I started by removing the shank and wirework.  I rebuilt the gallery adding a support ring in the center of the wires to make sure that the stone was at the proper height and away from the finger.
The addition of the heavier wires will make this ring last for years to come.
